  • Base salary will be in the range $111,154 - $124,619 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 8)

About This Opportunity 

The Manager, MD Curriculum Development is a senior professional staff member responsible for overseeing and coordinating professional support in design, delivery and continuous improvement of the curriculum for the new Doctor of Medicine (MD) program at both the program and course levels.

This includes managing the project plan, ensuring deadlines are clearly defined and met. This role serves as a key liaison between academic and professional staff, clinical sites and organisational units to ensure the curriculum is aligned with best practices, accreditation standards, and is feasible for implementation across the distributed sites.

This position reports to the School Manager and operates under the day-to-day guidance of the Director, Academy for Medical Education.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Provide professional leadership to academic leads in developing the MD program structure and curriculum, ensuring alignment with best practices, UQ policies, and accreditation standards.

  • Collaborate with academic and professional staff to develop, deliver, and refine the MD curriculum, integrating theoretical and clinical components, and assessment strategies.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to align curriculum design with Medical School's strategic priorities.

  • Maintain comprehensive and accessible curriculum documentation, including records of learning experiences, assessment plans, and alignment with learning outcomes, accreditation standards, and clinical competencies.

  • Provide high-level support and advice to project stakeholders during MD curriculum development and implementation.

  • Refine and continue to develop and monitor the detailed project plans and timelines, including setting and tracking deadlines, milestones, resources, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with overall objectives and that the project stays on schedule.

  • Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance, and mentorship to staff, fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment.

About You

  • Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience, preferably in an education/learning design field, project management in a medical education setting or similar) or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, and a demonstrated commitment to responding to client needs

  • Experience with program design and curriculum development, preferably in the medical education setting.

  • Experience with curriculum mapping and ability to identify curriculum or knowledge gaps take initiative to develop solutions, while keeping stakeholders informed and engaged

  • Strong attention to detail and proven experience in designing and managing projects using structured methodologies, with an ability to manage large amounts of information and ensure accuracy in documentation and reporting

  • Demonstrated ability to work iteratively, adapting quickly to change and operate effectively both on an autonomous basis and as a member of a collaborative, client-focused team

  • A very high level of digital literacy in software applications, including curriculum and assessment related systems plus Microsoft products

  • A demonstrated ability to lead a high-performing team of learning design and/or other professional staff.
