Undertake and assist with both pre-clinical laboratory research and clinical research in a supportive and colloborative research environment at the Queensland Research Centre for Peripheral Vascular Disease (QRC-PVD) at James Cook University (JCU).

Creating a brighter future for life in the Tropics and beyond, through education and research that makes a difference locally, and globally, JCU is now looking to appoint a Postdoctoral Researcher / Research Fellow.  This is a full-time, fixed-term opportunity and is based at the QRC-PVD.
 
How you’ll make a difference
The Postdoctoral Researcher / Research Fellow is a newly created position due to recent successes in securing pre-clinical and clinical research grants from the NHMRC (National Health and Medical Research Council) and MRFF (Medical Research Futures Fund). Under the leadership of Professor Golledge and our team of researchers, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing our research endeavours.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate researcher to contribute to cutting-edge research in peripheral vascular diseases within a supportive and collaborative research environment. The position offers the chance to work on multiple research projects and develop expertise under the guidance of experienced researchers.
 
What you’ll bring 

·         An enthusiasm and passion to improve the health of those living with peripheral vascular disease.

·         PhD degree in a relevant discipline (laboratory sciences, medicine or pharmacy).

·         Experience in independently developing animal models and performing laboratory techniques (RNA/DNA extraction, western blotting, RT-PCR, ELISA, IHC) and cell culture techniques for translational research demonstrated by publications.

  • Experience in independently analysing research data and preparing original manuscript, and/or evidence of contributing towards publications within the respective research team.
  • A sound understanding of clinical and laboratory research methodology and ethics.
  • Experience in conducting pre-clinical rodent model research, demonstrating good research practices and appropriate research behaviour.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, with a track record of research productivity evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals.
 
About the Queensland Centre for Peripheral Vascular Disease (QRC-PVD)
The Queensland Research Centre for Peripheral Vascular Disease (QRC-PVD) within the College of Medicine and Dentistry is dedicated to improving the management of peripheral vascular disease (PVD). The main research priorities are abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), peripheral artery disease and diabetes-related foot disease. This position will particularly contribute to research on AAA but may also contribute to the other PVD priority areas.
Our experienced research team uses a broad range of techniques including vivo pre-clinical models, in vitro studies, genomics, genetics, bio-informatics, molecular biology, epidemiology, clinical trials and complex statistical analyses.
