About the opportunity

Southern Cross University’s Office of Vice President (Students) and Registrar is seeking a Learning Advisor join our team and provide invaluable guidance and support to students throughout their learning journey.

As part of the Student Outreach team, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact by contributing to the provision of programs and services that promote student engagement, retention, and learning.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to the design, development, and delivery of learning support initiatives such as self-help resources, peer learning support, workshops, embedded unit support, and individualised student support.
  • Providing one-to-one student learning support via a referral program.
  • Identifying emerging themes where students require learning support, and working with academic staff to identify current issues and priorities for learning support
  • Maintain up to date referral information and assessment approaches to proactively assess student circumstances and enable effective referral to other forms of support or assistance where appropriate.
About you

You will be passionate about supporting student learning and will bring relevant experience with a background using learning analytics, assessment tools and approaches to inform your practice and drive student success. More specifically, you will have:

  • A degree with subsequent relevant experience in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Education, Health Science, Natural Science, Mathematics, Numeracy (secondary teaching) or another closely related field or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
  • Experience developing and delivering effective learning development programs and unit embedded learning support in a higher education environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a customer centric approach, and the ability to work effectively as part of a broader team collaborating with colleagues.
  • Candidates with experience supporting students in the fields of IT, Engineering, Advanced Mathematics or Law will be highly regarded, though not essential.
Salary and benefits

  • Full-time, fixed term (12 months)
  • Located at either Coffs Harbour, NSW 2450, Gold Coast, QLD 4225, or Lismore, NSW 2480. Generous relocation support available.
  • HEW Level 6. The base salary ranges from $88,301 - $96,849 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $113,313.
