The Business Development and Commercialisation team at UNSW focuses on developing and closing technology and R&D business deals including research partnerships and commercialisation (licenses, spinouts/start-ups, Intellectual Property).
Level 7 ($110,073 - $119,132)
The Business Development Associate collaborates with the team to identify opportunities, market UNSW capabilities, engage external partners, and negotiate deals. Key responsibilities include IP management, market reviews, supporting researchers, technology marketing, and maintaining confidential information
Level 8 ($123,044 - $138,636)
In addition to Level 7, you’ll independently manage IP disclosures, secure agreements, negotiate terms, and lead industry engagements.

Who you are
Level 7
You have a relevant tertiary qualification in a scientific or engineering discipline (desirable) or equivalent knowledge and experience, as well as:
- Knowledge and experience in identifying and managing new technology, IP, and commercialisation.
- Marketing and promotion experience for new technologies.
- Networks and engagement with industry and external stakeholders
- Collaborative success across different organisational levels
- Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and databases (e.g., IP Management and CRM)
- Commitment to UNSW’s values and relevant policies
Level 8 (in addition to Level 7):
- Experience in structuring and delivering IP/commercialisation engagements and transactions
- Experience in structuring and delivering research engagements and transactions.
- Expertise in identifying and securing patent protection.
- Extensive networks and engagement with industry stakeholders.
- Skill in managing diverse stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
