Job Description:

Creating a brighter future for life in the Tropics and beyond, through education and research that makes a difference locally, and globally, James Cook University (JCU) is looking to appoint a Team Leader, Laboratories and Technical Support (Marine and Terrestrial) within the Academy – Tropical Environments and Societies.
  •  Full-time; continuing
  • Based at the Cairns Nguma-bada campus, Smithfield
  • HEWL 7 $94,374 - $104,359 per annum plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions (current as at 1 July 2024)
What you can accomplish in the role
Lead and develop a team to deliver high quality and efficient teaching support for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs. 

 Provide technical and logistical support for planning and organising undergraduate marine and terrestrial field trips, to areas such as Orpheus Island Research Station, Cape Tribulation, Borneo etc.

Special Conditions
It is a requirement of this position to hold the following:
  • Current First Aid Certificate;
  • Current C and MR Queensland drivers license; and
  • Current Working with Children Blue Card

Job Requirements:

To ensure success in this position, you will have demonstrated staff management experience with the ability to show leadership and oversee the delivery of quality performance outcomes.
 
Laboratory and field work experience, preferably in a teaching environment, and significant understanding of WH&S legislation and application are also skills inherent to the success of this position.
