About the opportunity

Southern Cross University’s Student Support team is seeking an International Student Advisor to support University students throughout their studies, promoting international student satisfaction and retention. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Provide comprehensive support to international students, addressing administrative, academic, and pastoral issues, as well as visa compliance concerns.
  • Collaborate with the Manager, International Student Support Services to deliver student support activities, including arranging stipends, tutors, travel and academic monitoring.
  • Develop and implement programs to enhance student experience, including orientation, academic support, and crisis care.
  • Monitor student outcomes, identify at-risk students, and develop intervention strategies to support their academic success.
  • Foster a positive campus community by promoting cross-cultural integration, hosting social events, and maintaining accurate student records.
About you

The successful candidate will be working in a dynamic and supportive environment where cultural diversity and inclusivity are highly valued. You will be passionate about supporting international students and have a strong understanding of Australian government legislation pertaining to international students. More specifically, you will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and at least 2 years’ experience providing support to international tertiary students, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills and ability to navigating complex cultural and linguistic nuances to deliver client-centred solutions.
  • Excellent organisational skills and a demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of Australian government legislation pertaining to international students.
Salary and benefits

  • Full-time, fixed term (12 months).
  • Located at Gold Coast, QLD 4225.
  • HEW Level 5. The base salary ranges from $76,892 - $85,445 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $99,971.
