Job Description:

  • As a key member of the team conducting the PERTH Trial, you will contribute directly to investigating the health effects of plastic-associated chemicals (PAC) on cardiometabolic outcomes
  • Work closely with an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, scientists, and statisticians, gaining valuable experience
  • Full-time appointment on a fixed term basis for 11 months.
  • Base salary range (Level 5 – Level 6): $76,422– $92,430 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The PERTH (Plastic Exposure Reduction Transforms Health) Trial team is situated within the UWA Medical School, based at the QEII Medical Centre campus. The PERTH trial team are investigating the health effects of plastic associated chemicals (PAC) which humans are exposed to through diet, use of personal care products, and inhalation of air. The study involves a 1-year interventional clinical trial to investigate the effects of plastic-associated chemicals (PAC) on cardiometabolic outcomes. The study is supported by an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, nurses, doctors, medical scientists, dietitians, and statisticians.

About the opportunity

We are seeking a Research Officer - Dietitian to work full time on the research study. You will conduct dietary assessments to assess sources of PAC exposure and assist in planning, overseeing, and coordinating the procurement of food and other supplies for the intervention study. Following the intervention study, you will be involved in the analysis of data and manuscript writing.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in dietetics
  • Eligible for full membership as an Accredited Practising Dietitian with Dietitians Australia
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of dietary patterns and accurate dietary assessment
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-developed organisational skills
