About the opportunity:

As part of the Faculty of Business, Government & Law, the Canberra Business School is recruiting for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Lecturer in Accounting to join our collaborative and collegial scholarly community. This role involves significant contributions to teaching and research within the accounting discipline, with a focus on financial accounting, management accounting, and/or audit.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and convening academic units and online learning sites at both undergraduate and postgraduate unit levels, and (if needed) directing course programs.
  • Designing, delivering, and coordinating innovative and engaging lectures, tutorials, workshops, and work-integrated learning opportunities.
  • Providing timely feedback on student assessments, engaging in student consultation and mentoring.
  • Increasing student engagement through active and enquiry-based learning activities. assignment feedback, and timely turnaround of assessments.
  • Undertaking and publishing high-quality accounting-related research in refereed journals and presenting research findings at academic seminars and conferences.
  • Securing external research funding within the accounting or related fields.
  • Supervising Higher Degree Research (HDR) students as principal supervisor.
  • Maintaining established professional, industry and government links that benefit research, teaching, and student learning outcomes.
  • Undertaking service and engagement duties, including attending school and committee meetings and significant university events.

About you:

To be considered for this position, you will have the following:

  • A completed PhD or equivalent in accounting or a closely related area.
  • CPA/CA or equivalent professional accounting qualification is preferred.
  • Evidence of high-quality and innovative teaching of accounting units at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, including the development and management of those units.
  • Online unit delivery experience and the development of digital learning initiatives would be desirable.
  • Established national recognition and emerging international presence in accounting teaching and research.
  • Substantial record of publications in high-quality refereed accounting related journals and conferences.
  • Proven track record of supervising higher degree research students to completion.
  • Demonstrated success in obtaining external research funding.
  • Engagement or leadership in University service roles and/or external activities.
  • Established and ongoing connections with industry, government or professional bodies within the accounting and/or related discipline.
