Why Your Role Matters:
Our HR BP Function plays both an operational and strategic role partnering with people leaders to achieve their people strategy and furthering the meaningful work we do at UNSW.

The Contingent Workforce HRBP team is a new development for the business as we continue to build subject matter expertise around our casual employees. Overseeing the complete lifecycle for this integral cohort, this team will lead on operational input for new legislation, engagement and onboarding and the strategic workforce planning. You’ll have the opportunity to work with some of the best minds in their field and be inspired by the talent and passion of colleagues and students.

As the HR Consultant for this area, you’ll be confidently providing dedicated HR business partnering support to build trusted relationships across your client group and offer high-level HR solutions, strategies and advice across complex issues. In this hands-on people-focused role, your day to day will include:

  • Autonomously providing trusted HR advice and guidance to managers and employees in your client group.
  • Offer support across complex processing issues across visas and engagement etc.
  • Offer employee lifecycle guidance from performance management to line management.
  • Proactively partnering with clients to provide effective HR solutions, no two days are the same.
  • Implementing HR policies and procedures and improvements as an expert in your field
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of HR legislation and practices
  • HR project work across talent mapping, planning and other matters.
  • Providing effective HR reporting and analysis for informed decision making
  • Supporting and mentoring our HR Officers

This role reports into the HR Business Partner for the area is and supported by a HR Officer.
With each Faculty/Division granted a dedicated HR BP team to service their strategic and operational HR needs, you’ll enjoy working with a sizable and collaborative cohort of HR peers across the university.

Who You Are: We're looking for strong HR professionals with substantial experience across a similar role in a complex and client- centred environment; a strategically minded Consultant comfortable autonomously advising across HR solutions, alongside:

  • Practiced experience in independently managing complex work-place matters.
  • Confidence in workforce planning guidance, offering guidance on sound job design principles considering existing roles and standards.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills to communicate with partners of all levels, a confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in interpreting insightful business reports to develop and implement people planning strategies.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, EA interpretation and fair work and confidence to apply in the workplace.
