Salary:
Level B – $119,231 - $ 141,581 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% super & a clinical loading $13,494 per annum pro rata for dentally qualified academics.

About the Role
The Lecturer in Oral Surgery role at the Melbourne Dental School involves actively engaging in clinical teaching and supervision, focusing on oral surgery subjects. The responsibilities include supporting students in developing evidence-based dentistry skills and contributing to course development. This position offers research, professional development, and mentoring opportunities within a dynamic academic environment at the Melbourne Dental School, a top 25 school in the world (QS ranking, 2024)

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and contributing to a high standard of teaching to students undertaking a clinical degree program.
  • Offering guidance to students regarding their academic progression, including providing consultations and marking examination papers, remediations, and assessments.
  • Actively participating in School meetings and relevant committees as required (program, School, Faculty, University).

Who We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will possess at least 5 years of recent clinical experience in dental practice, along with demonstrated clinical teaching experience in tertiary dental education. They should have exceptional communication skills, both with students and patients, and a commitment to ongoing professional development. Experience in teaching oral surgery and familiarity with learning management systems like Canvas would be desirable.

You will also have:

  • Specialist qualifications in Oral Surgery or Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, registrable with AHPRA.
  • Ability to develop student assessments and provide timely feedback.
  • Highly motivated to develop skills consistent with learning and teaching excellence.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team in a coordinated teaching environment.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
