Do you want to make a real impact in rural health and wellbeing? La Trobe University is calling for a dynamic and innovative Senior Lecturer in Nursing and Midwifery to join our exceptional team at the La Trobe Rural Health School (LRHS).

About the Role:

As a Senior Lecturer, you will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering our cutting-edge Nursing and Midwifery programs. At LRHS, the largest rural health school in Australia, we pride ourselves on offering a diverse and comprehensive range of health courses across our regional campuses. This position is your chance to lead, inspire, and contribute to the advancement of health education and research in rural communities.

What You'll Do:

  • Innovate and Inspire: Design, coordinate, and teach high-quality subjects and courses that captivate and engage undergraduate, honours, and postgraduate students. Embrace and implement innovative teaching methodologies, including online and blended learning, to enhance the student experience.
  • Lead Groundbreaking Research: Conduct and lead high-impact research projects. Publish your findings in top-tier journals and present at prestigious conferences. Secure research funding through competitive grants, contracts, and consultancies.
  • Mentor Future Leaders: Provide leadership and mentorship to junior academic staff and nursing and midwifery partners. Supervise Higher Degree by Research (HDR), honours, and postgraduate students, nurturing the next generation of health professionals.
  • Build Strong Networks: Forge and strengthen collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders and industry partners. Represent the discipline at key external events and contribute to professional accreditation and course monitoring.
  • Champion Excellence: Develop and critically revise curriculum materials, ensuring they meet the highest standards of professional accreditation and academic excellence.

What We're Looking For:

  • Academic Excellence: Completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent accreditation in a relevant discipline. Registered Nurse or dual Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife with NMBA|AHPRA.
  • Teaching Superstar: Demonstrated effectiveness in curriculum development and teaching, with a passion for educational excellence.
  • Inspirational Leader: Proven ability to lead and mentor at the course/program/research group level, inspiring both students and staff.
  • Research Trailblazer: Strong record of research publication and success in obtaining research funding. Your work makes a difference and sets new standards in the field.
  • Effective Communicator: Demonstrated effectiveness in liaising with external organizations, agencies, and the public.
  • Team Builder: Proven experience in managing staff performance and development, creating a supportive and high-performing team environment.
