An exciting opportunity has become available within our People and Culture Directorate in the Safety and Wellbeing team. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Senior Safety and Wellbeing Adviser to join our team and help promote a positive safety culture and ensure a safe and healthy environment across our campuses.  

 

You will be responsible for providing comprehensive safety, health and wellbeing advice and service to all levels of staff and external stakeholders at CQUniversity. Your primary goal will be to enhance awareness, promote a positive safety culture, and support the University in maintaining a safe workplace and academic environment. 

 

In this role, you will offer expert advice and guidance on safety and wellbeing matters to staff and students, as well as develop strong relationships with external agencies. You will conduct regular organisational audits and inspection activities consistent with statutory and internal policy requirements, conduct investigations of workplace incidents, and engage with and maintain strong, positive relationships with internal key stakeholders including University Management, Deans, Directors, AVP’s and Campus Coordinators.. You will facilitate and advise on risk assessments to control and manage risks associated with University operations and activities. Additionally, you will work closely with the Safety and Wellbeing Manager, assisting with reporting to University compliance matters and the University’s Business Continuity and Crisis Management activities.

Position Requirements

 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary industry practice and safety requirements.
  • Ability to interpret and provide advice on the current legislation and associated policies. 
  • Have significant experience in providing high level practical health and safety and psycho-social advice and service to clients. 
  • Well-developed understanding of and ability to apply relevant safety and Workers’ Compensation legislation for all Australian states. 
  • A relevant degree with at least four years subsequent relevant experience.
