About the Role
The Events Coordinator at the Department of Rural Health is responsible for planning and implementing events and engagement activities to enhance the department's reputation and foster community involvement. This role coordinates student events, community engagement activities, and promotional efforts in collaboration with University stakeholders and local partners. The position is based in Shepparton and requires travel across regional campuses in Ballarat, Wangaratta, and occasionally to the Parkville campus, ensuring the smooth delivery of events and maintaining a collaborative working environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver or support the delivery of events at all Department of Rural Health regional sites (Shepparton, Wangaratta and Ballarat). This includes in person delivery and / or coordinating local site staff to undertake the logistical support tasks for the event.
  • Plan and coordinate public Lectures, webinars, recruitment events (including University Open Days, Careers Day Out and ‘Meet Melbourne’ events) across various University of Melbourne campuses.
  • Work closely with the Aboriginal health team to deliver the Ngar-Wu Wanyarra Aboriginal Health Conference.
  • Support the two regional student clubs (Outlook and Moovin’ Health) with event planning, financial management and reporting (data collection) requirements.

Who We Are Looking For
You will be self-motivated, enthusiastic ‘people person’, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You will possess strong administrative skills, exceptional planning and organisational abilities, and highly developed written and oral communication skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.

You will also have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (Events, Marketing, Business or similar) with subsequent experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education.
  • Experienced in high-level project/conference/events planning, and ability to positively engage with others to seek support when required.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and ability to deliver when under pressure.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds in a confidential and sensitive manner.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
