The Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology (SET) is a thriving centre of learning, teaching and research in a vast range of engineering and science schools and disciplines. The multidisciplinary hub develops future leaders, and actively partners with innovative industries to solve scientific problems of global significance. Many of its current academic staff are world leaders in their fields and graduates are highly regarded by employers.

The School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences provides world class, hands on education and training to future animal and veterinary scientists. We are home to South Australia’s only veterinary school and veterinary teaching hospital.

We are seeking dedicated and passionate casual staff to assist with the delivery of our Semester 2 undergraduate and postgraduate courses, commencing Monday 22 July 2024.

Individuals who are highly skilled in all disciplines of Animal and Veterinary Science/Technology fields are encouraged to apply. These will include, but not be limited to animal handling and welfare, surgical, medical, and diagnostic disciplines. Applicants will be required to provide evidence of their suitable qualification and/or industry experience.

Classes will be held at the Roseworthy Campus and applicants will be required to travel to campus.

Application process:

  • Please view the available courses through the application form to determine what area/s of work offerings are being made available for individual courses. If you have previously taught clinical skills (excluding live animal) in Bachelor of Veterinary Technology, Bachelor of Science (Veterinary Bioscience) or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, there is now a course code selection for clinical skills teaching. Please indicate this in your nominated courses to apply for casual work in clinical skills across these programs.
  • Ensure you meet the essential criteria:
    • Conferral of an undergraduate degree in a relevant field (or equivalent relevant experience)
    • Good technical knowledge of the key teaching components of the course/s you are applying for
    • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain technical information to students
    • Available and flexible to meet the minimum hourly/sessional requirements for the course/s
    • Able to work collegially to support excellent teaching within the school
    • Are an Australian citizen or possess eligible Australian working visa*

*Please note: Prospective employees are required to provide evidence of their Australian citizenship or working rights.

  • Consider the desired criteria:
    • Conferral of a postgraduate degree in a relevant field
    • Previous experience with casual work within the school
    • Demonstrated ability to educate or mentor students
    • Evidence of good student feedback in student evaluations
    • Evidence of good feedback from course coordinators
