The Opportunity

  • Brand new facilities in the Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct
  • Full-time (35 hours week) | 2-year fixed term contract
  • $118,338 - $133,948 (depending on exp.) + 17% super + leave loading

The Integrated Acute Services Building (IASB), located in the Prince of Wales Hospital at Randwick, forms part of the Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct, supporting health research and education. The IASB wet labs are managed as a centralised research support facility through the UNSW Mark Wainwright Analytical Centre.

You will manage day-to-day operations of the new multi-user PC2 and PC3 wet lab facilitates based in the IASB. Key responsibilities include providing technical support for research activities, ensuring compliance with protocols, managing stakeholder relationships, and contributing to strategic initiatives. The position is part of a larger team focused on supporting health research and education within the Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct

About the successful applicant:

You have a relevant tertiary qualification in Biological/Biomedical Science and or relevant management experience, and can demonstrate the following Skills and Experience: -

  • Managing a biomedical lab including and knowledge of AS2243.1, PC2, PC3, and OGTR guidelines. Experience in a PC3 laboratory environment will be highly regarded.
  • People management skills.
  • Experience in preparing and managing compliance documents including Gene Technology Research Committee (GTRC) reports, Risk Assessments and Safe Work Procedures.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and applications including Laboratory Information Management Systems and WHS Management Systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail. Ability to influence senior management and stakeholders for successful outcomes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team, take initiative, and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
