Job Description:

  • Help to share stories on the scientific research happening in some of Australia’s most iconic landscapes, including Christmas Island and Ulu?u-Kata Tju?a National Park.
  • Full-time appointment on a fixed-term basis until the end of December 2027
  • Base salary range: Level 6 or Level 7 $87,460 – $106,223. p.a. ($91,833 – $115,008 p.a. from 1 July 2024) plus 17% superannuation, depending on experience and qualification

About the team

The Resilient Landscapes Hub is one of four research Hubs under the Australian Government’s National Environmental Science Program. The Hub provides research to inform management of Australia’s terrestrial and freshwater habitats to promote resilience, sustainability and productive practices. The Resilient Landscapes Hub delivers applied research to support management of Australia’s terrestrial and freshwater habitats, including a focus on bushfire recovery, feral animals and invasive species impacts, and accessible science to assist land managers develop and maintain resilient, sustainable and productive landscapes. The Hub has a budget of $47 million over 6 years. The Hub includes researchers from universities, CSIRO, state government research agencies and a range of other partners.

About the opportunity

In this position, you will assist the Hub Leader and Manager (Communications) to support the communication and adoption of knowledge generated by the NESP Resilient Landscapes Hub to improve decision-making about the management of Australia’s outstanding natural resources.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent competency
  • Communications experience at an appropriate level
  • Ability to clearly and effectively understand and translate scientific outcomes into targeted communication products such as factsheets, newsletter stories, content for online/social media channels, and video
  • Experience in content management systems and in producing web content, engaging with print and broadcast media, and video production
  • Experience in engaging with a wide range of stakeholders such as government agencies, industry bodies, Indigenous groups, environment organisations, community groups, research institutions and the media

Note: Provision of a Current Australian ‘C’ class driver’s licence will be required for the successful applicant.
