Workplace Support Officer – The Kirby Institute

  • Employment Type: Part-time (4 hours per week)
  • Duration: 12 month fixed term contract
  • Remuneration: $82,818 - $$93,711 Full time equivalent salary (will be pro-rata) + 17% super and leave loading
  • Location: Kensington, NSW (Hybrid working, work from home and from UNSW Sydney campus)

Why Your Role Matters:

As a Workplace Support Officer, you will provide workplace-based support to employees with lived experience of intellectual disability (lived experience employees) to support them to perform their work, achieve their work goals, and be contributing members of the team.

You will also build and maintain supportive relationships with members of the project’s lived experience advisory group.

The project is called Vax4Health: A research project to co-design vaccination services for students with disabilities.

The role reports to Senior Lecturer and has no direct reports.

Who You Are:

  • Relevant qualification with subsequent relevant experience in educating or supporting people with lived experience of intellectual disability, including people with complex support needs, in a workplace environment.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including experience in providing mentoring to people with emotional and social support needs.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including with people who experience communication impairment and have emotional support needs.
  • Ability to make sound judgements and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Advanced time management, organisational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Highly proficient computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications.
