The Head of School, School of Business is a senior academic leadership position within UNSW Canberra, heading strategic and operational leadership of the school.

The School of Business aspires to operate at the forefront of educational innovation, actively shaping the future workforce, and empowering individuals to make a positive impact on society through leadership, expertise, and lifelong learning.

As the school continues to grow and embrace the changing educational landscape we are looking for someone that will champion innovative teaching practices and further the profile of this school. The successful candidate will be someone that naturally works in a collaborative way across the University and engages with key government and business stakeholders to ensure the school’s operational objectives, and strategic vision is realised.

Bringing your substantial experience in School Management, you’ll bring a forward-thinking approach, to develop our innovation, education and research capabilities in this area.

Who you are:
You hold a strong academic background, with a relevant degree (a PhD or equivalent) alongside the following:

  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders.
  • Experience in leading and championing educational initiatives and interdisciplinary research that involve government agencies, industry partners, national and international tertiary institutions.
  • Ability to establish and nurture partnerships with government entities, industry leaders, and community organisations to advance the school's mission and objectives.
  • Skill in leveraging these partnerships to enhance research funding and experiential learning opportunities for students.
  • Effective skills to advocate for the school's initiatives and partnerships both within the university and in the wider community across the societal impact of education, research and innovation efforts.
  • A strong track record of effective university administration, such as administration leadership at school or faculty level including demonstrated ability to oversee the management of large budgets.
  • Energy, diplomacy with strong skills in analysis and change management.
  • Proven ability to mentor and motivate diverse teams to achieve a high-performance culture, develop future leaders and manage under-performance.
  • Capacity to articulate a strategic vision for the School, and the ability to lead and manage change to achieve that vision.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to encourage staff and students to achieve their best.

The successful candidate will be required to work from the UNSW Canberra campus. To be successful you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship. UNSW is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position. The University reserves the right not to proceed with any appointment.
