Job Description:

  • Play a role in assisting International students in a busy English Language Centre by providing a high level of administrative and secretarial support to the Director and Director of Studies
  • Level 5, full-time appointment on a fixed term basis for 12 months
  • Base salary range: $76,422 – $84,705 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation

About the team

The Centre for English Language Teaching (UWA CELT) works to enhance recognition of UWA internationally by providing high quality intensive English language programs, International Study Tours and allied services, including language testing services. It contributes to UWA’s priorities and operations through its expertise in the teaching, learning and testing of the English language and through its international promotional activities. UWA CELT is a part of the office of Pro-Vice Chancellor (Global Engagement) and has key a role in supporting and furthering the University’s international strategies.

About the opportunity

As the appointee you will, under general direction, provide a high level of administrative and secretarial support to the Director and Director of Studies, particularly in managing compliance and pathway student progress. You will also take on a range of special project tasks that support the operations of the Centre.

About you

You will enjoy finding administrative solutions to challenges, are detail oriented and want to support and improve efficiencies for the Director of Studies.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary or post-secondary secondary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency.
  • Substantial relevant administrative and secretarial experience at an appropriate level.
  • Proficiency in a range of computing skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet, email and basic publishing related software.
  • Highly developed organisational skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative and work productively as part of a team.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to liaise and work with a range of people at different levels and from different cultural and language backgrounds.
  • Relevant experience working in an ELICOS environment, and an understanding of the requirements of the industry is desirable.
  • Ability to speak another language, common to the ELICOS sector, at an advanced level is desirable.
