Research Officer – National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC) – Townsville based

  • Employment Type: 12-month Fixed Term, Full Time (35 hours per week)
  • Remuneration: $82,818 - $93,711 + 17% Superannuation
  • Location: Townsville Hospital and Health Services, Townsville, QLD

ABOUT NDARC, UNSW: The National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC) at UNSW Sydney is a premier research institution, recognised internationally as a Research Centre of Excellence. The mission of NDARC is to conduct and disseminate high quality research to increase the effectiveness of treatment and intervention responses to alcohol and other drug-related harm. Why Your Role Matters: You will be instrumental in the day-to-day conduct of a world first clinical trial of a new medication for methamphetamine (‘ice’) use. You will be responsible for managing the trial at the Townsville site, doing research assessments with trial participants, managing databases and biological samples, facilitating recruitment and administrative duties related to the trial (e.g., ethics approvals). You will be an employee of UNSW, based at the Townsville Hospital and Health services, in Townsville, and will work with a multi-disciplinary international team.

Who You Are:

  • A degree in psychology, nursing, social work or equivalent
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational, time management and communication skills
  • Confidence managing databases and ideally experience in REDCap or similar
  • Ability to liaise effectively with people from different disciplines and backgrounds
  • Commitment to integrity and sensitivity in interacting with marginalised populations
  • Current driver’s licence.
