About the opportunity

Southern Cross University is seeking a Director, Governance and Secretary to Council to oversee the executive governance functions of the University. This position will also serve as the University’s Secretary to Council and its committees, including the Academic Board.

The Director, Governance and Secretary to Council will lead operational Governance services at the University and provide guidance on governance processes, policies, and procedures, including University statutes and regulations.

Managing the University's Policy Library and providing policy development support and advice will also be key aspects of the role, along with overseeing Public Interest Disclosures.

About you

You will have demonstrated experience working in governance at a senior level, showcasing your ability to lead teams effectively, engage stakeholders, and deliver exceptional service to internal clients. Additionally, you will have a strong working knowledge of Council and Board administration, along with experience working closely with senior executives and board members.

Strong interpersonal skills, negotiation abilities, and facilitation skills are a must for this role. The candidate should have a proven track record of influencing and being consultative with a diverse range of individuals in both formal and informal settings. Excellent written communication and public presentation skills are essential, as well as the capacity to provide high-level advice to Council and senior University officers in an effective and timely manner.

This is a full-time, continuing position based at our Lismore campus. Generous relocation assistance is available.
