Creating a brighter future for life in the Tropics and beyond, through education and research that makes a difference locally, and globally, James Cook University (JCU) now has an exciting opportunity for a Career Development Advisor to join our team in the Centre for Education and Enhancement.
  • Part-time: 0.7 FTE / 25.375 hours per week
  • Continuing appointment commencing in July 2024
  • Based at the Cairns Nguma-bada campus
  • HEWL 8: $102,460 - $117,657 per annum (pro-rata) plus up to 17% superannuation.

WHAT YOU CAN ACHIEVE IN THE ROLE
In this rewarding role, you’ll ensure graduates achieve successful employment outcomes by embedding career development and employability skills throughout the entire student experience by delivering high-quality, high-impact career counselling and development services. Ensuring JCU is a sector leader for graduate employment outcomes, you’ll work to increase student engagement through a range of programs and activities whilst supporting academic staff to embed career development learning throughout degree programs.
 

Job Requirements:


WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
With a postgraduate qualification that meets eligibility for professional membership with a career development association such as the Career Development Association of Australia (CDAA), you bring proven career counselling and development experience preferably within a higher education setting, with the ability to embed career development learning across curriculum, programs and resources. You have a high-level understanding of the current graduate labour market and working knowledge of higher education options with the ability to develop data collection and evaluation measures to meet strategic intent. With high-level communication, organisational, problem-solving and administrative skills, you work well independently and as part of a team with the ability to prioritise and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
