Teaching Associates (sessional academics) play a vital role in Southern Cross University's teaching and teaching support activities. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to the education of undergraduate and/or postgraduate students across our key programs. Responsibilities will include preparing and delivering tutorials, assessing assignments, conducting student consultations, and fostering a positive learning environment.

We are also seeking interest from Facilitators, to assist in activity-based seminars, tutorials, and workshops, and Academic Researchers to join our research projects and initiatives.

About the Faculty

Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Education is seeking expressions of interest from Academics Tutors, and Researchers to join our Talent Community.

The Faculty of Education is a diverse and passionate community who seek to disrupt and transform thought in, with and through research, teaching, learning and service for the purpose of leading and empowering profound educational change, now and for a sustainable future. With campuses located in Lismore, Coffs Harbour and the Gold Coast, as well as flexible online delivery options, the Faculty offers initial teacher education courses in Early Childhood Education and Care, Primary, Secondary and Higher Education, at undergraduate, postgraduate and graduate-entry levels, and has an active higher degree by research (HDR) program. Opportunities for research in education, are offered through Honours, Masters and PhD programs.

Areas of expertise that align with the Faculty of Education are: Arts Education; Asia and Australia’s Engagement with Asia; Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories; Classroom Management; Creative Arts; Creative Writing; Cultural Diversity in Education; Design and Technologies; Digital Technologies; Early Childhood Education and Care; Educational Leadership; Educational Philosophy and Sociology; English; Human Society and its Environment; Inclusion, Development and Diversity; Mathematics; Music; Personal Development, Health and Physical Education; Professional Experience / Work Integrated Learning; Research; Research Methodologies; Research Methods; Science; Sustainability and Environment Education; and Teaching Practice.

We are seeking expressions of interest from individuals who possess an Initial Teacher Education degree, and recent relevant professional experience. Ideally you will have a postgraduate level qualification (Masters or PhD) in Education. A Working with Children Check (WWCC)/Blue Card, or other state-based equivalent may also be required.

In addition, candidates will ideally have demonstrated teaching experience at a university level and proficiency in using eLearning software programs, such as Blackboard. Applicants who can showcase their ability to engage in research through publications will be viewed favourably.
