About the opportunity

The Faculty of Education is on a mission to disrupt the education profession and transform it in powerful and positive ways. Contemporary education demands teachers who are equipped with tools for contemporary practice. Southern Cross University is deeply invested in nurturing these skills and in developing the next generation of talented educators with imagination, courage and passion

The Faculty is seeking interest from experienced and suitable qualified early childhood teachers to undertake a range of casual academic opportunities that will enhance the overall student experience. Previous tertiary experience would be desirable but not essential.

Casual academic staff are required to undertake a range of duties within our programs, with a primary focus on marking, tutorials, workshops and student contact.

The hourly salary for casual academic staff is from $50.11 an hour (up to $59.64 for PhD holders) plus superannuation. Payments will also include additional preparation time where applicable (such as two hours preparation time for one-hour delivery time, and a higher hourly rate, if delivering a basic lecture). More information is available on the SCU website.

All casual positions have a degree of administrative duties.

These roles offer flexible working conditions online and on campus at the Gold Coast, with professional experience supervision opportunities available across Australia.

About you

With a relevant early childhood teaching qualification and professional experience, you will have a proven track record of maximising educational outcomes. You will have expertise as a passionate and engaged Early Childhood Education and Care teacher, with a strong working knowledge of contemporary principles and practices in early childhood education and care. You will be willing to share your knowledge and expertise with the future education providers and leaders to promote excellence in this field of education.

We encourage applications from diverse backgrounds, from teachers, academics, centre directors and/or educational leaders.

Job applicants must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident or currently hold a visa with ongoing work rights in Australia. Employer visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
