Full-time (100%), fixed-term position through to February 2028
Base salary will be in the range $104,616 – $113,920 + 17% super (HEW Level 7)
Based at our St Lucia campus
About This Opportunity
As a Senior Cyber Security Analyst within Information Technology Services (ITS), you will support and strengthen UQ’s cyber security capabilities. Working within a collaborative and high-performing Cyber Security Operations Centre, you will help protect a diverse and complex digital ecosystem supporting world-class research, teaching, and enterprise systems. This is an opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking team that values innovation, continuous improvement, and shared success.
Key responsibilities will include:
Supporting the detection, analysis, and response to cyber security incidents across the University environment
Providing expert advice and consultation on cyber security risks and controls to stakeholders across diverse business and technical teams
Designing and implementing operational security solutions, ensuring robust documentation and effective change coordination
Promoting cyber security awareness and best practice aligned with University policies and standards
About You
You are an inquisitive and solutions-focused cyber security professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and values collaboration. You bring strong technical expertise alongside excellent interpersonal skills, enabling you to engage confidently across a wide range of stakeholders.
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
Qualifications in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience
Proven experience applying information security policies, standards, and frameworks in a workplace setting
Expertise in multiple domains such as endpoint, email, cloud, or network security, digital forensics, vulnerability management, or SIEM platforms
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to manage competing priorities
Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear technical and user documentation
Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams
A commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and improving security outcomes
The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced operational environment
