Are you ready to play a pivotal role in advancing precision cancer therapy? Macquarie University is seeking a Cancer Biobank Coordinator to join the Precision Cancer Therapy (PCT) Research Group within the Macquarie Medical School. This is a unique opportunity to sit at the intersection of clinical care and laboratory research, coordinating the collection and management of patient biospecimens that fuel discovery and innovation in cancer treatment.

In this role, you will be instrumental in building and maintaining a high-quality cancer biobank while contributing hands-on to molecular and cellular research programs. This is more than a technical role. It is an opportunity to make a tangible contribution to translational research that has real-world impact on patient outcomes. If you thrive in a collaborative setting and are energised by the prospect of bridging clinical and research activities, we encourage you to apply.

    About the Role

Reporting to the Professor of the Precision Cancer Therapy Research Laboratory, the Cancer Biobank Coordinator will coordinate biobanking activities and provide technical expertise across the research group's operations.

    • Performing complex molecular and cellular biology research techniques and related experiments

    • Coordinating and providing technical expertise to academic staff and HDR students with running research experiments

    • Implementing new technologies and changes to the use of existing technologies

    • Contributing to the preparation of research data for presentation and publication, and presenting results at internal and external meetings

    • Providing training and guidance to higher degree research students and staff in laboratory research techniques, ensuring standard operating procedures, safety, and best practice are maintained

    • Coordinating day-to-day laboratory operations, including monitoring and maintaining stock levels of consumables

    • Conducting laboratory risk assessments and preparing material safety data sheets (MSDSs) prior to sourcing new substances

    • Complying with relevant EEO and WHS regulations
