About the opportunity

Southern Cross University’s Campus Services team is seeking a Chef to support the university café’s culinary operations. This role will involve:

  • Planning and pricing menu items in collaboration with the team.
  • Preparing meals, maintaining high presentation standards, and ensuring cleanliness in the kitchen.
  • Creating recipes and overseeing kitchen staff on food preparation standards.
  • Overseeing kitchen operations, including hygiene and food safety compliance.
  • Managing inventory, including ordering and securing food stock, and controlling waste.
  • Ensuring staff adhere to all food safety and WHS standards.
  • Coordinating kitchen operations in the absence of the head chef and supporting team supervision.
About you

To succeed in this role, you will be a dedicated and organized culinary professional who is passionate about food quality, safety, and team collaboration. Specifically, you will have:

  • A Food Handlers Certificate and a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (when applicable)
  • Proven ability to manage kitchen operations and maintain a high level of hygiene.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with a proactive approach to solving problems and adapting to kitchen needs.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to fostering a positive team environment.
Salary and benefits

  • Part-time (80%), continuing (permanent)
  • Located at Coffs Harbour, NSW 2450.
  • The base salary will be in accordance with the Hospitality Industry (General) Award Grade 4, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation.
