Research Associate / Senior Research Associate in Artificial Intelligence, UNSW Canberra

Employment type: Full time, 35hrs
Duration: Fixed term for 12 months
Remuneration: Research Associate (Level A) – from $110,059 + 17% superannuation/Senior Research Associate (Level B) from $123,620 + 17% superannuation

Why Your Role Matters

The (senior) research associate will contribute to designing and developing an end-to-end autonomous system using neural-network-based models for object of interest detection, tracking, path (re)planning, and obstacle avoidance capabilities and test their performance under a high-fidelity simulation environment. Working on this impactful project, you will have the opportunity to enhance your skills in neural-network-based modelling, autonomous navigation, and high-fidelity simulations. You will be supported by a team of experts including from academia and industry who will provide guidance and mentorship to help you grow professionally. This includes Professor Hussein Abbass

Who You Are:

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, mathematics, statistics, or a relevant discipline.
  • An emerging (Demonstrated for level B) track record of research accomplishments as a self-motivated individual who aspires to produce novel and cutting-edge research in neural networks.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with designing and developing path planning within game engines (such as Unity or Unreal) or robotics simulation environments.
