About the opportunity

Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Education is seeking a Lecturer or Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Education (Classroom Management) to shape the future of education through teaching and learning, research and scholarship, engagement leadership and service within the Faculty.

With a renowned global reputation for excellence in collaborative and transdisciplinary educational and social research, the Faculty boasts a dynamic research profile. Their leading researchers are at the forefront of addressing critical research questions and issues both in Australia and worldwide. Research concentrations within the Faculty include the Sustainability, Environment, and the Arts in Education (SEAE) Research Centre, TeachLab, and the Early Years Research Lab (EYRL).

This position provides the opportunity to teach students at both undergraduate and graduate levels on enhancing classroom culture through the implementation of preventative and proactive management strategies. Additionally, you will have the chance to engage in innovative educational research aimed at fostering a safe, predictable, productive, and orderly classroom environment. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Provide a high standard of teaching and learning, educational design and delivery.
  • Undertake research/scholarship activities that align with the Faculty’s profile and priorities.
  • Undertake relevant community and professional engagement that supports and enhances the University and Faculty’s profile and priorities.
About you

We are seeking applications from early to mid-year career academics with a growing profile in teaching and research within the discipline area. 

You will bring a PhD in the relevant area, an initial teacher education degree coupled with a demonstration of high-quality teaching across various education programs. In addition, you will possess:

  • Experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of innovative curricula and teaching resources that support and enhance the effectiveness of student learning in a range of areas within a university setting.
  • A strong track record in research or teaching scholarship relative to level and academic profile, including where possible publications in highly ranked journals, external research income, and supervision of honours/higher degree research candidates
  • Evidence of regular participation in and contribution to placement partnerships; professional practice; staff development activities; relevant professional bodies; and/or community groups.
Salary and benefits

Our staff benefit from flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work models, generous parental and carer’s leave provisions, wellbeing initiatives, employee assistance programs and professional learning opportunities. This position is:

  • Full-time, continuing (permanent)
  • Located at either Coffs Harbour, Gold Coast or Lismore. Generous relocation support available
  • Academic Level C or B, commensurate with qualifications, skills and experience.
    • Academic Level C: The base salary ranges from $128, 427 -$147,663 per annum, plus 17% employers contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $172,765.
    • Academic Level B: The base salary ranges from $105,344 - $124,585 per annum, plus 17% employers contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $145,764.
