We are seeking an experienced Learning or Senior Learning Designer to facilitate the design, development and implementation of eLearning and educational courses along with supporting curriculum design as part of an exciting new project.

Macquarie University has partnered with TAFE NSW, Microsoft and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) to create a range of new innovative and engaging eLearning and training courses for the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) – Digital Technology. The Institute will be located at the newly announced Meadowbank Education Precinct in Sydney, and will initially focus on offering courses on AI, big data, and cybersecurity. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Faculty of Science and Engineering’s Learning Design Team working to develop these bespoke educational offerings.

Reporting to the Learning Design and Production Lead, working with the learning design team and educational media production, the successful candidate will design, develop, and implement engaging and interactive eLearning courseware, assessments, and learning activities to enable blended, and online teaching. This role will also coordinate with project stakeholders and SME’s, help design and develop learning objects, action feedback gathered from review cycles, and provide expert advice to project stakeholders on technology enhanced learning.

About You

You will have knowledge of adult learning principles including online and blended learning pedagogies, proven experience in the development of innovative learning and teaching technologies and eLearning courseware. You have experience in instructional design, eLearning authoring and development along with the implementation of education offerings using the Adobe Creative Suite, Articaulte360, and web-based platforms and/or content management systems will ensure your success in this role.

Salary Package:  Senior Learning Designer (Level 8) from $109,553 to $121,901 per annum, plus 17% employer’s superannuation. Learning Designer (Level 7) from $99,739 to $108,139 per annum, plus 17% employer’s superannuation.

Appointment Type: Full-time, fixed term for a period of 12 months.

Essential selection criteria                                                                       

  • Tertiary qualification in learning technologies and/or equivalent experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of current adult learning principles (including online/blended learning pedagogies).

  • Demonstrated experience with the design, preparation and implementation of education programs using web-based platforms and/or content management principles.

  • Experience working with the Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate RISE, Articulate Storyline, SCORM to create eLearning content, including interactive resources.

  • Demonstrated ability to create interactive and innovative content based on instructional design principles.

  • Time management and organisational skills, and experience coordinating and delivering on competing deadlines.

  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Additional essential selection criteria for appointment at Level 8 (Senior Learning Designer)

  • Demonstrated experience of current adult learning principles (including online/blended learning pedagogies), with evidence of knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of innovative learning and teaching strategies.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of project management principles and methodologies, and proven ability to work to a project plan to deliver large-scale eLearning projects.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of institutional learning management systems, with evidence of wide experience in design, preparation, and implementation of education programs (including the development of resources and learning materials) using web-based platforms and/or content management systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply instructional design theories to design and develop dynamic and bespoke e-learning courses, increasing course engagement by creating basic animation coupled with compelling storytelling.

  • Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to cultivate effective working relationships and work closely with stakeholders to build new and refine existing learning materials.
