OVERVIEW OF THE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION AND TERTIARY ACCESS

The School of Education and Tertiary Access is a vibrant hub of energetic, passionate and knowledgeable staff, undergraduate and postgraduate students and doctoral candidates committed to quality studies in the discipline of Education and to supporting potential students to follow pathways to access tertiary education.  The School comprises a strong team of academic staff who are experts in their fields and who design and deliver innovative and engaging educational programs. Our core business is initial teacher education, outdoor and environmental studies, and tertiary access programs, as well postgraduate and research studies in Education.

The School prides itself on its collegial approach to research and support of early career academic staff members, and boasts many co-authored publications in high quality journals. The Indigenous and Transcultural Research Centre is hosted by the School and connects many academic staff through its transdisciplinary research focus. School objectives include sustaining the University’s five-star ranking for learning and teaching, enhancing blended learning opportunities, increasing research capacity and outputs in fields of education and extending engagement with schools. The School of SoETA is seeking to recruit and appoint committed, team-focused and inspirational academics with expertise in curriculum and pedagogy in primary and/or secondary educational settings, knowledge and understanding of the Australian Curriculum as related to their specific teaching areas, and successful classroom teaching experience, to join our dynamic team of community-focused and dedicated educators. Successful applicants will contribute to the School’s values of the provision of high quality initial teacher education for high quality teacher graduates. The successful applicants will demonstrate a clear research plan that includes a developing track record of research outputs including publications in scholarly peer-reviewed journals.
