Better healthcare depends on outstanding partnerships. In Australia, it’s estimated it takes 11-17 years for health research findings to translate into new or improved clinical practices.

The Brisbane Diamantina Health Partnership (BDHP) is Queensland’s first collaborative partnership bringing together Queensland’s leading acute and community health services, primary care, research institutes, universities and government agencies. Through the partnership, BDHP’s members seek to accelerate the translation of research and evidence into education and healthcare practices, with the aim of tackling some of the biggest and most pressing health challenges facing communities throughout Queensland.

About This Opportunity

Working closely with the Executive Director, the Operations Director will be responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the operational and program plans that result from BDHP’s strategic program. The Executive Director is responsible for the implementation of the strategic plan.

Key to the success of this position will be the ability to find constructive ways to navigate and balance the complex interests (and operational practices) of multiple partner organisations, to ensure the successful delivery of shared outcomes.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Translating the strategic intent of the Board into all aspects of BDHP’s work, including in engagements with member organisations, cross-sector affiliations, peer networks and wider stakeholder engagements;
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, develop operational and program plans to support and achieve the successful implementation of the BDHP strategic plan;
  • Ensuring the legislative, financial and operational governance of research translation are managed to actively support the Partnerships and program outcomes;
  • Provide leadership to the BDHP core team and program project staff, through the provision of clear direction, performance development support and feedback;
  • Lead the implementation of BDHP’s evolving change strategy and be responsible for ongoing reviews of best practice systems and processes (developing a culture of continuous improvement).

BDHP maintains physical offices at the Herston Campus and at the Translational Research Institute. These campuses house vibrant clinical and research communities delivering innovative and contemporary research and education programs in clinical academic environments.

This position is primarily located at the Herston Campus, which is conveniently located just minutes from Brisbane’s city centre, there is access to multiple public transport connections, onsite parking and cycling facilities.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an individual who demonstrates an ability to establish highly collaborative, executive-level relationships with senior stakeholders across both BDHP’s member organisations and a diverse network of private and public sector stakeholders.

Alongside postgraduate qualifications in a relevant area, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong stakeholder engagement capability, including the ability to collaborate skilfully regarding complex issues and influence others through strategic advice and influence;
  • An inclusive and collaborative leadership style, with a proven ability to build respected relationships with senior clinical, academic and professional staff within the health, research and education sectors and wider community;
  • Extensive relevant work experience in a senior or executive management role, with a focus on financial and budget planning, human resource management, technology and digital business systems, healthcare administration and/or research administration;
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of translational health and medical research in healthcare settings, and the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts and ideas to the general public.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 2 years at HEW Level 10A.

The full-time equivalent base salary is $131,208. A competitive remuneration package, including 17% superannuation, will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
