The Australasian Kidney Trials Network (AKTN) is situated within the School of Medicine’s Centre for Kidney Disease Research at the University of Queensland, at the Princess Alexandra Hospital campus, Woolloongabba. The AKTN was founded in 2004 to deliver high quality clinical trials to improve the health and wellbeing of people with kidney disease. This collaborative research group engages the kidney care community to conduct and support clinical trials focussed on improving appropriate patient-centred outcomes. The main functions facilitated by the AKTN are:

  • The development of protocols for kidney disease clinical trials
  • Coordinating multi-centre clinical trials in Australia and New Zealand
  • Fostering collaborations within the kidney care community, both internationally and locally, including with patients and carers
  • Providing educational opportunities for kidney researchers including consumer partners, early and mid-career researchers, recruiting site staff and research administration professionals

About This Opportunity

The AKTN Clinical Project Manager (CPM) is primarily accountable for achieving successful delivery of AKTN clinical team activities at the project level, and meeting local and regulatory requirements according to time, quality/scope and budget.

As the CPM you will you will supervise (either directly or indirectly as required) clinical research staff associated with the project(s), and will lead the development of policy and procedure, and compliance and quality processes to ensure the safety of research participants and the integrity of the research data. You will also be a change leader who will guide the development and retention of the team and ensure appropriate skills are available to future proof the AKTN’s project level clinical trial activities.

In addition to postgraduate qualification in a scientific, computing, medical or related discipline and a strong track record of effective leadership and change management in a research environment, we are seeking candidates with the following skills and experience”

  • Previous experience in a leadership and change management role within a rapidly evolving research environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills to collaborate effectively within multi-disciplinary research teams.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical and strategic thinking skills to ensure the accurate delivery of project requirements.
  • Experience in clinical trial monitoring and risk based quality management and control through the lens of GCP within an academic, CRO or pharmaceutical environment.
  • High level problem solving, analytical and strategic thinking skills to ensure accurate randomised clinical trials are delivered.
  • Experience with academic data management software systems and statistical packages such as SAS or R.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term position for two years at HEW level 8. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $98,298 - $110,376 plus super of 17%.
