- $74K-$84K Plus 9.5% super and leave loading
We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant who will conduct and contribute to a range of global epidemiological reviews work in collaboration with The Kirby Institute and National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC). The Kirby Institute is a leading global research institute dedicated to the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. The National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC) was established at UNSW to extend the knowledge base required for effective treatment of individuals with alcohol and other drug related problems and to enhance the overall research capacity in the drug and alcohol field.
As a Research Assistant you will work on a range of global epidemiological reviews including: the prevalence of injecting drug use, socio-demographic characteristics and risk profiles of people who inject drugs, the prevalence of blood borne viruses (HIV, HCV and HBV) among people who inject drugs, and coverage of treatment and prevention services targeting HIV, hepatitis C, and overdose among people who inject drugs. This work will also involve analysis of data and contribution to peer reviewed publications and presentations. Plus, you will liaise with various organisations, data custodians, stakeholders and collaborators in Australia and overseas, as required.
To be successful in the position you will have:
- Degree in the behavioural sciences, social sciences, epidemiology or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in data management and fundamental statistical analyses, including use of SPSS, Stata, SAS or a similar data analysis package.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience working within a team and liaising with other agencies and professionals.
- Excellent communications skills including the ability to contribute to research outputs and reports for diverse audiences.
- Commitment to integrity and sensitivity in interacting with marginalised or at-risk populations and about sensitive issues, including in complying with ethical, legal, and policy requirements.
