About the team
The UWA Dental School aims to achieve excellence in dental education, research and oral health care to the benefit of our local community and the advancement of dentistry globally. The School operates the Oral Health Centre of WA (OHCWA), a centralised public tertiary referral centre and dental teaching hospital, where eligible patients are treated on behalf of the State Government of WA.
The Oral Health Centre of Western Australia (OHCWA) is the primary focus for oral health education, research and specialist care delivery in Western Australia. OHCWA offers a full range of general and speciality dental services to the community with over 15,000 patients visits a year. The Centre also delivers a range of clinical and technical training programs.
About the opportunity
This position will be responsible for the provision of oral and dental health care to OHCWA patients and carry out scholarly activity at the Dental School.
This position will require the successful appointee to undertake clinical care responsibilities at OHCWA clinics at either Nedlands and/or Bunbury. Research activities will also be undertaken primarily at the UWA Dental School.
To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:
- Dentist registered with Dental Board of Australia
- Sound knowledge of Australian and WA regulations regarding health care services
- High level clinical skills across the range of dental disciplines
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Sound organisational ability and time management skills including a demonstrated ability to use initiative
- Computer competency, including the capacity to maintain electronic patient records and clinical correspondence
About you
You will be a recently graduated Dentist who is adaptable and focused individual with Dental qualifications. You are committed in developing your career in oral health care and have a commitment and awareness of cross-cultural issues with a drive to develop leadership skills.
Motivated to perform clinical activities and have a track record to conduct research, you will be flexible as rotation work between different clinics and travel from OHCWA Nedlands to Bunbury clinics may be required.
You will possess excellent time management and organisational skills through supervision all responsible staff members while coordinating additional professional and non-professional services to clients under the Dental Officer’s care. Your well-developed communication and interpersonal skills will translate to excellent interactions in the Centre to facilitate patient care.
