The Faculty of Education and Arts is seeking an innovative and energetic academic
to lead this high performing teaching and learning environment.

  • Provide high level strategic academic leadership and management to ensure excellence and quality of student-centred learning experiences in Faculty
  • Foster engagement in scholarship of learning and teaching through a range of strategies
  • Continuing appointment, full-time located in either Melbourne, Brisbane or Sydney

The Faculty of Education and Arts (FEA) comprises of two National Schools – the National School of Education and the National School of Arts. The Faculty of Education and Arts is recognised nationally and internationally as a leader in teacher education and educational leadership, and for its rapidly rising profile in the humanities and social sciences, especially in the disciplines of history, politics and international relations, and sociology.

The Associate Dean (Learning Teaching and Governance) supports the Executive Dean and Faculty Executive by providing high level academic leadership and management to ensure excellence and quality of student-centered learning experiences in Faculty programs and other course related activities within the Faculty, in accordance with the strategic plan of the University. You will:

  • Provide leadership in achieving the strategic intent of the University and Faculty through strategic planning and development of priorities
  • Provide leadership in seeking funding, undertaking business planning and resources allocation for Faculty strategic initiatives within the portfolio.
  • Ensure Faculty programs contribute to the successful learning, development, professional accreditation and employment of students.
  • Foster engagement in scholarship of learning and teaching through a range of strategies such as professional development programs for staff, learning and teaching awards etc.
  • Oversee and/or contribute quality assurance related to postgraduate and undergraduate courses as well as assessment and moderation for national consistency.

You will need to have:

  • A doctorate and research expertise in a relevant field and demonstrated recognition of national eminence and international distinction within that discipline
  • Demonstrated broad academic experience including evidence of high-level leadership and implementation in strategic planning and scholarship
  • Proven experience to plan at both strategic and operational levels to ensure professional delivery of complex projects, plans and high-quality outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively and lead teams across an organization to deliver shared goals.
  • Understanding of learning and teaching in the Australian Higher Education sector and impacts and interaction of state and university policies on learning, teaching and governance
  • Evidence of ability to show commitment with integrity to the Catholic Identity, Mission and ethos of the University

Total remuneration valued to 165,130 to $181,771 pa including salary component $139,902 to $154,125 pa (Academic Level D) or $212,205 pa, including salary component $180,212 pa (Academic Level E), employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading. Salary and Academic Level will be commensurate with qualifications, skills and experience of the successful candidate.
