The role

Dr Hongfu Sun is currently recruiting PhD students to innovate on novel MRI methods that can be eventually applied to neuroscience and neurological diseases. Excellent and accessible MRI facilitis are available at UQ, e.g. a state-of-the-art 3T Prisma and a prestigious 7T whole body system (only two in Australia, the other one in UniMelb).

The research projects will involve MRI physics, pulse sequence programming, image processing (e.g. machine/deep learning), and image analysis (e.g. big data, data mining). By the end of your graduate study, you will be an expert in MRI with comprehensive skills in maths, physics, and computer programming.

The person

To be successful, applicants will need to meet the following selection criteria:

  • First-Class Honours, or Masters degree
  • Maths, physics, engineering, or computer science background
  • Programming skills (MATLAB, etc) are essential
  • MRI/NMR or medical imaging knowledge/experience is a plus

Remuneration

$27,596 per annum tax-free (2019 rate), indexed annually.
