  • Salary Package: From $71,052 - $80,783 p.a. (HEW Level 5), plus 9.5% employer’s superannuation and annual leave loading
  • Appointment Type: Full-time fixed term position for 12 months
  • Location: Macquarie University (North Ryde)

The Role

The Centre for Healthcare Resilience and Implementation Science (CHRIS) is seeking a Research Assistant with a proven track record in providing a variety of research support to Senior Academics including literature reviews, assistance with grant submissions and synthesis of data. The successful applicant will work directly with Senior Academics and the Director of CHRIS. They will also liaise with a range of academics, research and administrative staff as well as external stakeholders from all areas of the health sector.

About You:

Working with Professor Frances Rapport, an expert in implementation science, and Associate Professor Rebecca Mitchell, an expert in health outcomes, you will:

  • Have a clear understanding of how to apply various research methods to health research questions.
  • Contribute to the preparation of grant applications, peer-review publications and other research outcomes.
  • Have good communication and time management skills.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team, while being able to meet tight deadlines and be able to adapt workloads, as necessary.

About Us

The Centre for Healthcare Resilience and Implementation Science (CHRIS) is part of the Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI) within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Science, and has a successful track record of undertaking research and evaluation projects on health sector issues since 1991. Its core interest is to investigate issues of policy, governance and leadership in the health sector. It is involved in conducting original research into clinical governance issues, providing a scholarly capability by which to evaluate health sector policies, programs and projects, and contributing to undergraduate medical, postgraduate health services management, and public health and doctoral education.

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, health services research, medical humanities or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated research experience (preferably conducted within a University).
  • Computer skills including MS Office, internet-based research and database management and research software (such as EndNote).
  • Experience with statistical software, such as SAS or SPSS, and/or experience with Nvivo.
  • Excellent organisational skills with a demonstrated capacity to meet tight deadlines and manage time effectively.
